Today I noticed that the Duolingo Hawaiian dictionary link no longer works, it just opens another copy of one's progress page. With the closing of the Duolingo Hawaiian forum, a month or so ago, I really wonder what is happening there, and who, if anyone(?) is currently in charge of the Hawaiian Duolingo lessons.

I'm on day 362 of Duolingo Hawaiian, and part way through section 16. (Yes, I know I'm a slow learner! ;-) )
You've mentioned that many folk give up round about this point in the series, I'm struggling to progress, but really am being infuriated by the inconsistency of the English translations, almost every other answer seems to be grammatically wrong in some way as far as the 'English' goes. Looking at the old forum posts I find that many other folk have commented on these in the past, but it seems nothing changes.
For example: E ke keiki, e lawe aku i kēia ʻōkeni no ka lūlū. Child, take this coin for offering is 'correct', Child, take this coin for the offering. is 'wrong' .
And: Pāʻani mākou i ka pōpaʻipaʻi ma ka hopena pule. We play volleyball on the weekend is 'correct', We play volleyball at the weekend is 'wrong'. Looking at the discussion many folk have said they've reported that 'at' should be accepted, some several years back. It really seems that no one is making the effort to follow up on these reports.
I heard that 'Ekela Kaniaupio-crozier is involved somehow as well as Kamehameha Schools, but I'm not sure to what extent or if those rumors are even true.
As for the Hawaiian course itself, I don't think it'll ever close down, even if the people in charge abandon it. Duolingo is just buggy sometimes. I remember the Practice All button never worked for me, I still don't know since I just gave up trying haha
