Vocabulary
Lists
These Vocab Lists will help you begin, broaden, and bolster your Hawaiian vocabulary.
Once you have memorized a set, try testing your knowledge with the paired quizzes!
The Starter sets were also accompanied with a Zoom Event lesson and practice - if you missed them, no worries! I have typed out notes of what occured in each meeting.
Starter Vocab
For those who don't have any previous experience with Hawaiian and looking for a place to start, here are a few lists to get you going!
After studying these vocab sets and participating in the associated Events (or reviewing the Event Notes), you'll be able to create basic sentences and ask, and respond to, simple questions.
Beginner Vocab
These sets of vocab expand what you know from the Starter Vocab lists, as well as introduce a wider range of categories. The associated grammar becomes more complex as well.
Make sure you are familiar with the vocab and grammar concepts
introduced in the Starter Vocab before starting these lists.

After studying these vocab sets and participating in the associated Events (or reviewing the Event Notes), you'll be able to form more types of sentences and talk about various topics: location of people/objects, telling time and dates, use basic numbers, and the weather. You'll also use sentence structure unique to Hawaiian!
Specialized Vocab
Here are pages of detailed vocab pertaining to a specific area. These will be useful for everyday items and actions, beyond what you will learn in a textbook (or in the Starter/Beginner/Intermediate lists). There are also associated prompts - practice writing Hawaiian and these terms in the Forum!
Check this space again every so often, as I will update with more areas!
The underlined bullets points are the lists that are finished.
