Nice list! You can see that the ke goes before pihi and pa'i, so any words that come after that won't affect it. I have also seen ka pā (= yard) to differentiate from ke pā. I believe ke goes before pā in the term Pā CD, but not before CD iteslf (the pā here resembles a "plate"). I like to retain the ke for these exceptions, but remember that certain language groups won't! I've seen textbooks use ka pākaukau and ka 'eke which bothers me to no end haha

@Colinmcc Na'u and Nāu are both N-Possessives! Na'u means "mine" and Nāu means "yours." Also, Nāna means "His / Hers" (Na kākou/etc. also exist). Does that make sense? Or did I misunderstand your question? DX N-Possessives are a pretty tricky deal at times!

N-Possessives do usually function for emphasizing the possessor ("mine" instead of just "my"). But this (i __ na'u) is another way too! It's brought up on Duolingo Category #18, Order Food. The Makemake is implied/cut out, making it an incomplete colloquial sentence, more than a proper grammatically correct one. I heard that 'Ekela Kaniaupio-crozier is involved somehow as well as Kamehameha Schools, but I'm not sure to what extent or if those rumors are even true. As for the Hawaiian course itself, I don't think it'll ever close down, even if the people in charge abandon it. Duolingo is just buggy sometimes. I remember the Practice All button never worked for me, I still don't know since I just gave up trying haha

I've seen the same things as you, it seems! I've also heard awakea is the part of the day "when the sun is hottest." It's probably up to interpretation in real life, but Duolingo shouldn't do that haha

@Colinmcc Ugh, I know what you mean. It's like that for every language; there's a bunch of tiny words that you just have to memorize. They feel unimportant...until you try to have a conversation, then suddenly you'd really like to use them haha (Kākau 'ia 'o "Becka" ko'u inoa :3)

Your assessment is correct, Duolingo just hasn't updated unfortunately.

Yeah, they're trying to be helpful by teaching you two different ways to say the same thing (like English saying "each day" vs "every day," or Spanish "cada día" vs "todos los días" - they are essentially interchangeable) - but Duolingo is not a good platform to teach synonyms in that manner.

I see "i kēlā me kēia [kakahiaka]" often. In my head, I think of it more like "each and every [morning]" - about the same length as the English sentence, with the same "every" meaning! A should only be used for Verbs and Adjectives (which people argue are "stative verbs" anyways), a me and me are used for Nouns. A me and me are used pretty interchangeably, me meaning more like "with" but basically has the same meaning haha Like "Makemake au i ka 'āpala a me ka hala kahiki, ka niu, me ka pī'ai." It sounds like you use it when you've already said a me and it would be redundant to say it again. The above example also sounds a bit like a fruit medley too, put that way haha

I looking again at the Starter Vocab that you're referring to - all of those are lower-cased, none are capitalized.

I've actually only see the letter after the 'okina capitalized. I do it differently in my Duolingo Guides because I'm always told that the 'okina is itself a letter, so I try to treat it that way. Sometimes, like you noted, I will capitalize the following letter if, for some reason, it doesn't look right in the sentence/example I provide. That's just me though! I've never heard of anyone doing it the way I do, it's more of a self-imposed rule haha
